Good Food, No Fire

On Saturday the eighth, SSAC took a trip out to Chi Tung in Evergreen Park. All regular members were in attendance.

The weather was cold and wet, and the restaurant was busy. After making a pseudo reservation (they said they'd try and hold a table for us at 7:30) we still didn't get seated until about 7:45. No biggie. Like I said, the place was crowded. Still, the food came pretty quickly and it was good. Had a hard time hearing the waitress, being on the far end of the table, but oh well.

I tried the Mongolian Three, which is where they take three Mongolians, chop them up into little bits and put them in a stew. Oh wait, that wasn't it... I also got to try "Shrimp Toast" which was...interesting. Logan, a junior member, tried a new delicacy green crayon. He went with Crayola (only the best for him I guess) and he managed to get some down before we retrieved the rest. He also tried sharing some of his goldfish crackers and his truck with the people sitting behind him, but they politely refused.

It was a little disappointing though that there was no fire. Dan ordered some appetizer sampler thing that came with its own little grill that he could heat stuff on, but they never lit it. What a let down. Prometheus would be rolling in his grave! Other people got to have fire at their table. Where was our (Dan's) fire!?! Maybe they thought we couldn't be trusted. I know that if I had ordered the appetizer that comes with its own grill I would not have been able to resist the temptation of lighting up my skewer or something.

At the end, there were cookies galore, with probably the most vague fortune cookie fortune that I had ever received. I don't remember it, but whatever it was, it was pretty unremarkable. Then the crew split ways to put babies to bed and do whatever it is couples do when they don't have kids in the house. I don't remember anymore.
